Jørund Aase works experimentally and contemplatively with an emphasis on three-dimensional expressions. He seeks an impure, frugal beauty, where the coincidences of material and biological processes play a decisive role. Non-traditional materials are often used, such as thermoplastics and bacteria-grown cellulose. The works are often characterized by a dystopian mood, at the same time encompassing humor and a life-affirming wonder at the world’s mysterious existence.
After studying at The Oslo Academy of Fine Art he has exhibited in venues such as The Drawing Room (London), Performa 13 (NY), Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània (Valencia), The Nordic House (Reykjavik), Artconnexion (Lille), The Young Artists Society (UKS, Oslo), Kunstnernes hus (Oslo), Gallery F15 (Moss), Tromsø Kunstforening (Tromsø) and Kurant (Trondheim).
